Accreditation (Institutional Membership)

To help ensure that tissue banking activities are performed in a professional manner consistent with the AATB’s Standards, the Association initiated an Accreditation Program for tissue banks in 1986. AATB accreditation is based onthe Standards and policies developed by the Association. Tissue banks receive accreditation for retrieval, processing, storage, and/or distribution of tissue. Once an application has been filed and accepted, banks undergo an independent review of their standard operating procedures (SOPs) and an on-site inspection of their facilities and operations. AATB inspectors examine tissue banks for compliance with all aspects of the Association's Standards and policies, including record-keeping, quality control, quality assurance, donor screening, testing and suitability determinations.

Institutional membership is comprised of AATB-accredited banks.  Institutional members receive reduced member rates for AATB meetings and workshops, and publications.
