Delayed Implementation of Physical Assessment Changes to Standards

The AATB Standards Committee has been made aware of unintended consequences resulting from changes to standards that entered a six-month preparatory period on January 31, 2022 for section D4.120 Physical Assessment and Appendix III: Tissue Donor Physical Assessment Form Requirements. These revisions were announced in AATB Bulletin 22-1 on January 31, 2022, with an effective date of July 31, 2022.

On April 4, 2022, The AATB Board of Governors executive committee acted on a recommendation from the Standards Committee to approve the delayed implementation of changes to D4.120 and Appendix III. A committee subgroup will re-evaluate the proposed changes, consider the unintended consequences of their implementation, and make recommendations accordingly. Accredited establishments are advised to delay making changes to relevant policies and procedures until the situation is resolved.
 
Changes to the following standards announced in AATB Bulletin 22-1 will still come into effect on July 31, 2022.

•    D4.100 Donor Screening
•    D4.210 Blood Specimens, Subsection (BT)
•    D5.720 Delivery and Post-delivery Records, Section Item 2

•    NT-E4.000 Preparation Records
