We are thrilled to announce the inaugural recipient of the revitalized AATB Grant Program: Dr. Shangping Wang, Principal Investigator, along with Co-Investigator Dr. Hai Yao, for their project titled "Accurate 3D Geometry Measurement and Quantitative Integrity Evaluation of Donor Meniscus Allografts."
Dr. Shangping Wang, a tenure-track professor with a specialization in transport phenomena and thermodynamics in biological systems, brings a wealth of expertise to this project. Dr. Wang’s current research interests, centered on the development of long-term preservation technologies for viable musculoskeletal tissues, aligns perfectly with the objectives of our grant program.
The project, to be conducted at Clemson University's Bioengineering department, promises to advance the understanding and application of donor meniscus allografts through precise 3D geometry measurement and quantitative integrity evaluation.
The AATB Grant Program, initiated to increase scientific output and content from AATB while funding projects beneficial to the tissue banking community, received several high-quality proposals. Dr. Wang's proposal stood out for its innovative approach and potential for significant impact.
The grant criteria, emphasizing non-proprietary aspects of tissue banking, were meticulously met by Dr. Wang's proposal. The selection process, guided by metrics such as innovation, impact, quality, and ability, along with a valuation ratio considering both the cost of the project and its overall impact, underscored the exceptional merit of Dr. Wang's project.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Shangping Wang and Dr. Hai Yao on their outstanding achievement, and we eagerly anticipate the valuable insights and advancements that their research will bring to the field of tissue banking.
Thank you to all applicants for your submissions, and we encourage continued innovation and collaboration within the allograft tissue industry, academic research institutions, and medical centers.
